Uranium-Radium-Vanadium Ore Mining 1997 Economic Census Mining Industry Series 1997 Issued August 1999 EC97N-2122F U.S. Department of Commerce Economics and Statistics Administration

Radium can be found in groundwater more frequently in the southern Coastal Plain region. Uranium in groundwater occurs mainly in the northern Piedmont region. As a result, a small number of public drinking water systems have recently been identified that exceed the federal drinking water standards for radium and uranium.

Equivalent uranium (eU) data provide an estimate of the surficial concentrations of radon parent materials (uranium, radium) in rocks and soils. Equivalent uranium is calculated from the counts received by a gamma-ray detector from the 1.76 MeV (mega-electron volts) emission energy corresponding to bismuth-214 (2HBi), with the assumption that ...
uranium deposits at Coles Hill, which the Coles family has owned since 1785 Source: ia Uranium, Inc., Fuel for America, Jobs for Southside The uranium found now in ia was created when one or more supernovae exploded at least 4.5 billion years ago, or perhaps when two neutron stars collided near the site of our solar system.
(b) MCL for combined radium-226 and -228. The maximum contaminant level for combined radium-226 and radium-228 is 5 pCi/L. The combined radium-226 and radium-228 value is determined by the addition of the results of the analysis for radium-226 and the analysis for radium-228. (c) MCL for gross alpha particle activity (excluding radon and uranium).

This study used spatial analytical techniques to evaluate the relationship between population level groundwater use, predicted groundwater uranium, and cancer incidence in SC. Census tracts with elevated groundwater uranium concentrations and more frequent groundwater use had elevated SIRs for colorectal, breast, kidney, and total cancer.

Not only are unstable radium isotopes significant radioactivity emitters, but as the next stage in the decay chain they also generate radon, a heavy, inert, naturally occurring radioactive gas. Rock containing thorium and/or uranium (such as some granites) emits radon gas that can accumulate in enclosed places such as basements or underground ...
Canonsburg is a borough in Washington County, Pennsylvania, 18 miles (29 km) southwest of Pittsburgh. Canonsburg was laid out by Colonel John Canon in 1789 and incorporated in 1802. The population was 8,992 at the 2010 census. The town is in a rich coal district, and most of the town's work force once worked in local steel mills or coal mines.
Health effects from radiation exposure in former uranium production workers at Mallinckrodt studied. When data on one million workers is studied, numerous opportunities emerge that offer an the chance to find better methods for radiation protection and uncover answers to elusive questions like “what is the cancer and/or mortality risk when exposure is received gradually over time rather than ...

Radium (chemical symbol Ra) is a naturally-occurring silvery-white radioactive metal or radionuclide formed by the radioactive decay of uranium and thorium. Radium-226 (Ra-226) and radium-228 (Ra-228) are the most common isotopes or forms of radium; Ra-226 originates from the decay of uranium-238 (a long-lived uranium isotope, which has a half ...
Uranium City is a northern settlement in Saskatchewan, Canada.Located on the northern shores of Lake Athabasca near the border of the Northwest Territories, it is 230 m (750 ft) above sea level. The settlement is 760 km (470 mi) northwest of Prince Albert, 760 km (470 mi) northeast of Edmonton and 48 km (30 mi) south of the Northwest Territories-Saskatchewan boundary.
Rum Jungle is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about 105 kilometres south of Darwin on the East Branch of the Finniss River. It is the site of a uranium deposit, found in 1949, which has been mined. The area derives its name from an incident when a thief stole 750 ounces of gold from miners after getting them drunk with rum.
